Lemay is a census-designated place (CDP) in south St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 16,645 at the 2010 census. Lemay was named after Francois Lemai, who operated a ferry boat across the Meramec River in the early nineteenth century. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.5 square miles (12 km2), of which 4.3 square miles (11 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), or 4.19%, is water.

The county also has the highest per capita income in Missouri ($49,727), and nearly one-fourth of the state workforce is employed in St. Louis County, but it accounts for 27% of the state's wages. The St. Louis County Economic Council is the economic development agency of St. Louis County, and it is operated under the authority of the St. Louis County government.
