Who founded Moody, AL?
The first home in what is now Moody was constructed in 1820 by Epps Moody, who had moved there from North Carolina and for whom the town is named. Other North Carolina acquaintances of Moody's soon followed him to Alabama. The town originally was called Moody’s Crossroads because it grew along two roads that intersect there. During the Civil War, most Moody residents were pro-Union as none of them owned any enslaved people, and several of the men were drafted into the Confederate Army against their will.

The landfill was initially licensed to Scott Russell through NDL Inc., which was incorporated in 2007, and later by Environmental Landfill Inc., on property owned by the Scott Russell Management Trust.
