I've worked with teens as a teacher in middle school, in high school, a high school librarian, and now as a life coach. The reason for my commitment to teens is simple - I really like them. I earned an MEd. in. Secondary English Education and am a Certified Life Coach for Young People through Youth Coaching Institute (YCI). I also write a monthly column on School Library Journal's Teen Librarian Toolbox blog called RevolTeens about teens who make a difference in the world. At home, I have raised three of my own teens, now 23, 19, and 17. I know that they have always needed an outside unbiased voice from teachers, therapists, or other trusted adult as well as their parents' guidance to feel successful and grounded. One of the reasons that coaching works for teens is that they get to talk to someone who is not their mom. My story: I lived the first thirty years of my life, as many of us do, wanting to make my parents proud, wanting friends to like me, and wanting to fit in according to all societal norms. The result: a law degree, a high paying lawyer job, boredom and a feeling of "Meh" about my life. Hello Saturn return.
I was Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride who did not know what kind of eggs I liked (terrible reference, but go with me). I went on a self discover journey. I practiced tuning into my intuition. I learned about subconscious reprogramming, inner child and shadow work, I tried meditation for the first time. I took courses in Chinese energy healing, mediumship, and integrated energy therapy. I studied the Akashic Records, talked to my spirit guides, and maybe sometimes just talked to myself. Then I went deep down the Human Design rabbit hole and fell out the other side.
I still do not have the answers to how the universe works, but I feel a bit better. And I developed so many self discovery tools and felt a calling to share them — with you maybe.
I now offer spiritual guidance counseling and human design readings. Warning: a lot of the spiritual stuff falls into the woo woo, airy fairy camp. Loyalsock Township is in south-central Lycoming County and is bordered by Montoursville to the southeast, Fairfield to the east, and Upper Fairfield Township to the northeast. These eastern borders are formed by Loyalsock Creek, which joins the West Branch Susquehanna River at the township's southeastern corner. The township is 85 miles (137 km) north of Harrisburg, the state capital, 160 miles (260 km) northwest of Philadelphia, 65 miles (105 km) west of Wilkes-Barre, and 77 miles (124 km) south of Elmira, New York. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 21.5 square miles (55.7 km2), of which 21.2 square miles (54.8 km2) are land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km2), or 1.60%, is water.
The township was settled in 1768 and incorporated in 1786. It is located on the north bank of the West Branch Susquehanna River. Native American artifacts can be commonly found in parks near the West Branch. Archaeologists have found over 1,500 pieces of Native American pottery, weaponry, and other artifacts, some being displayed in collections in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New York City. Most can be found at local museums in nearby Williamsport.
