Nutritionist, Herbal Coach and Assistant Professor of Nutrition
My name is Megan and I have been in the industry of nutrition, herbal medicine and education for the last ten years. I have my Masters of Medical Science in Human Nutrition and I have worked with a variety of clients. I incorporate herbal medicine in my practice and have a small apothecary in my home. In addition, I currently teach for the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, Colorado and have also worked as an assistant professor of nutrition, anatomy and physiology for the past three years. I think educating individuals on the why and what is taking place in their bodies on a physiological level is necessary for effective change to begin. I also believe the body is interconnected with mind and spirit. Thus, much of my focus is making sure the rest of your system is coping well in order for your physical body to properly heal.

Old Lawrence, or Back Lawrence, is a part of the Village of Lawrence, comprising many large homes, mansions, beachside villas, and former plantations with very large properties, a few dating back to the time of the American Revolution. This area, like Hewlett is unique because its rural affluence is similar to the more well-known Gold Coast of the North Shore instead of being more urbanized like the rest of the South Shore of Nassau County. An interesting pre-Revolutionary home on Long Island, Rock Hall, was home to two prominent families, the Martins and Hewletts, and is now an active museum.
Beginning in 1869, a railroad line was completed which originated in New York City and ran through the part of Long Island now called The Five Towns. Part of the land in that area was acquired by three brothers with the surname "Lawrence," which is who the Village was eventually named after.
In 1897, Lawrence was incorporated as a village. This enabled it to gain local control of zoning. Lawrence, or most notably Old Lawrence, was formerly home to a large upper class of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant families who lived there since the time of the American Revolution. From the 1940s to the 1980s, it became a center of Reform and Conservative Jewish life that included the largest Reform synagogue on Long Island (Temple Israel). Many noteworthy residents grew up in Lawrence during this period.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.7 square miles (12.1 km2), of which 3.8 square miles (10.0 km2) is land and 0.8 square mile (2.2 km2) (17.91%) is water.
Health and wellness are paramount in Lawrence Village, with the city offering various amenities and services to support the well-being of its residents. The NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan is a cornerstone in providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community. Explore the parks, facilities, and programs the Nassau County Parks and Recreation Department offers. These spaces provide opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, jogging, sports, and picnicking. Join local fitness centers and gyms to participate in exercise programs, fitness classes, and strength training. Some popular options include Modo Yoga Studio and Planet Fitness. Discover the walking and biking trails in and around Lawrence Village, such as the Norwalk River Valley Trail and Ridgefield Rail Trail. These trails offer opportunities for outdoor exercise and enjoyment of nature.
