Mount Airy is a city within Surry County, in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 10,676, an increase of 288 (+2.8%) from the 2010 census count of 10,388. Mount Airy is located along the Ararat River, about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of the Virginia state line. The city is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately 14 miles (23 km) from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) and the hardiness zone is 7a.
