The population was 25,321 as recorded in the 2020 census, up from 23,961 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Naples–Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Golden Gate is located in western Collier County at 26°11′7″N 81°42′13″W, 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Naples.
