Professional Statement
Michelle Kaminski brings deep lived experience to Steady Ground. She has lived through deep grief, the loss of her father who was her best friend. She battled with drug addiction for 20 years and after entering recovery in 2005, her struggle was just beginning. She rebuilt her life through more grief, family separation, betrayal, divorce and leaving an abusive relationship. She understands that starting over rarely happens in a straight line. And she’s had to start over more than once with no one on her side to guide her.
After moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2013, she found herself homeless and scared. She signed up for food stamps and that’s when Goodwill Rehire approached her and changed her life. They gave her a place to stay, food, clothes, gas to get back and forth and put her to work. They got her a job as a bath aide in an assisted living facility and eventually she got her Med Tech License. She spent the next 13 years working in different assisted living facilities in Colorado Springs as a Med Tech/ Caregiver, caring for the older adults living there. Eventually she became a Manager, leading and supporting the care teams around those adults.
In August of 2023, Michelle and her fiance lost their son to drugs. It was one of the most painful times in her life. Especially after getting her son into recovery programs 3 times prior to this. This event changed her life in more ways than she had ever imagined possible. It almost destroyed her.
Today she offers calm, practical one on one coaching for adults navigating difficult seasons and major life changes. Her approach begins with listening, making room for what is true and finding a next step that feels possible.
Steady Ground is the safe space she wishes she had. Calm, honest, judgement free and grounded in real life experience.
