What is an Intuitive Healer?
An intuitive healer has a vast understanding of how the body’s natural energetic fields work and flow through the system and channels of the individual. They are the ones who connect to a Higher Power, God/Goddess/ All that is, Source, or Life force Energy.
What is Energy Healing?
Energy healing is a traditional healing system that restores the balance and flow of energy throughout the body, mind, and soul. This technique works directly with the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being. It is used to treat various medical conditions, especially ailments related to mental health. It addresses the illness caused due to disturbance of the energy flow in the body. It is believed that when the energy flow gets fixed, the person automatically gets cured. There are different types of energy healing techniques, which work differently to heal a person.
Does Energy Healing Really Work?
Many forms of alternative healing, especially those based on working with energy, are difficult to prove with scientific evidence. However, some research has shown interesting results. A 2014 review of randomized trials suggested that Reiki therapy may help reduce pain and anxiety, though more research is needed. According to results from a 2011 study, in which participants had six 30-minute sessions for 2 to 8 weeks, people who had Reiki felt greater mood benefits compared with people who didn’t have the treatment. A 2013 review noted that research into energy therapies, like healing touch, therapeutic touch, and Reiki “continues to demonstrate efficacy for symptoms commonly associated with cancer,” including:
- pain
- anxiety
- quality of life
- health function
Although there’s less research when it comes to remote energy healing, some shows promise.
A pilot 2015 study found that people being treated for cancer who received 30-minute sessions of distant Reiki for 5 days, in addition to regular medical care, had lower levels of pain, anxiety, and fatigue.
What Does Science Say About Energy Healing?
Energy healing is vastly different from the majority of Western-based therapies. For many, this makes it a foreign and little-understood technique. What you need to know, as someone who is interested in energy medicine, is that the philosophy of Eastern medicine or Traditional Chinese Medicine is supported by Western science.
Quantum Science helps us understand that the smallest molecule, when broken down to its smallest structure, is in fact, no longer physical matter. Instead, the core is a whirling vortex of energy. This energy is often referred to as vibrations.
Energy healing uses techniques that interact with these “vibrations” to bring alignment and balance to that part of the body, creating balance or what science refers to as homeostasis. This brings healing whether it is physical or emotional. In fact, some of the nation’s top hospitals are currently hiring energy healers to provide patients with yoga therapy, Reika, acupuncture, massage therapy, and more.
Reiki, in particular, has been proven to reduce pain. It also has a history of reducing depression and anxiety, boosting self-esteem, and improving a person’s quality of life.
What You Will Feel After an Intuitive Energy Healing?
Every person’s energetic system reacts differently when they give or receive energy, so the results vary in nature and noticeability. People often report feeling much lighter, as if they have dropped a lot of energetic baggage that they seem to carry around without noticing. Other effects reported are having more clarity, feeling less self-doubt, a sense of calm, a quiet mind, and more self-awareness. We usually ask clients to leave their expectations for sessions at the door in favor of intentions, as expectations lead to disappointments, but intentions are powerful - they lead to manifestations.
Is There Any Physical Touch in an Intuitive Energy Healing?
Only healers that have certifications to administer physical touch have the right to do so, this includes an array of different practices and should be discussed prior to beginning your session. The facilitator may lay a hand on your body where they feel a connection is necessary, but only with consideration and your explicit consent. There usually is very little physical touch within energy healing sessions, but that doesn’t mean you won’t feel anything. We often describe energy healing as a massage for your energetic body, and during the session, you may feel physical sensations such as tingling, heat, coolness, pressure, twitching, rushes, or pulling. It is not often that these sensations are uncomfortable, though they may be new and strange. In an instance where they are, please make your practitioner aware immediately.
What is Intuitive Energy Healing?
Intuitive energy healing is an approach to holistic healing that allows the practitioner to access their own deep meditative state, accessing an altered state of consciousness through the alpha-theta and delta brain waves, making it easier to receive intuitive information about a client's health or life situation. The practitioner then works with and through God to assist the client in transforming and changing the emotions, beliefs, and energies that are contributing to their current imbalance. Intuitive energy healing can be used for creating physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental healing.
How Intuitive Energy Healing Works
Intuitive Energy Healing is a more effective treatment for those who are naturally empathetic (generally more sensitive to energy and emotions) or for those who have bottled up emotions for a significant time.
Intuitive Energy Healing works to:
- Heal and release emotional, physical, and mental blockages
(which are usually formed from having repressed or suppressed emotions in the past and present that largely affect our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.)
- Heal from chronic issues, overwhelming stress, and burnout.
- Clear and cleanse the energy layers of the body and stimulate better energy flow.
- Heal and seal any energy holes or leaks in the body.
- Cut emotional cords and energy cords.
- For if and when a person is heavily energetically influenced by another person or another person’s spirit.
- Heal the aura (the auric layer of our body).

How to Know When You Need Energy Healing
When someone says you need energy clearing, it usually means that you're exhibiting a sign that is indicative of an energy imbalance.
The best remedy for the latter is an energy healing session, which, of course, would also include cleansing.
Here are 12 signs you need energy clearing:
1. You are unable to sleep or experiencing poor quality sleep.
2. You feel tired even when you feel you've gotten adequate sleep.
3. You're lethargic, down, depressed, and/or anxious for no particular reason.

What to Expect During an Intuitive Healing Session
In a Healing Touch session, the practitioner begins with a centering process to calm the mind, access a sense of compassion, and become fully present with the patient. The practitioner then focuses intention on the patient's highest good and places his or her hands lightly on the patient's body or makes sweeping hand motions above the body.
Healing Touch practitioners believe that this process balances and realigns energy flow that has been disrupted by stress, pain, or illness. The process eliminates blockages in the energy field so that the patient is in an optimal state for healing to occur.
How can I prepare for a session?
You'll want to wear comfortable clothing to your Healing Touch session and be prepared to discuss your treatment goals. Are you seeking relaxation or stress management, relief from a specific symptom, such as nausea or pain, or are you preparing for surgery or some other procedure? You will get the most out of Healing Touch therapy if you can be specific about your healing needs.
If this is your first private session, the practitioner will ask you to complete a health questionnaire and any privacy documents that are required by law, such as HIPAA release forms. If you are in a hospital setting, you will need to give verbal consent to the session.
In both settings, the practitioner will explain a little about Healing Touch and what to expect and answer any questions you have.
The session
You remain fully clothed during a Healing Touch session and typically lie down or sit comfortably in a chair. Healing Touch sessions may last anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes for a full-body treatment or as little as 5 to 15 minutes for a localized treatment of a specific injury.
All Healing Touch sessions follow a general format:
Intake
At the beginning, the practitioner will ask you about your condition or symptoms and what you hope to gain from the session.
Centering (Healer Preparation)
The practitioner starts by becoming "centered" to become totally focused, present, and fully open to the process of engaging with you. The practitioner connects with their internal self, concentrating on a place of silence and inner stability and eliminating all distractions. He or she will also connect with a higher power or universal life energy. The centering process is similar to entering a meditative state.
Attuning to the Patient
Centering is followed by "attuning," or setting the intention for you, the patient's, highest good.
Treatment
The practitioner first scans your energy field by passing a hand gently above the surface of your body, noting any sensations or imbalances. The practitioner may experience these imbalances as heat, cold, tingling, pressure, heaviness, lightness, etc.
The practitioner then chooses a Healing Touch technique that is appropriate for your needs. This may include light physical touch or sweeping hand motion above the body. This technique may be used anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes. The practitioner ends the session by assessing your energy field again. Once again he or she does a hand scan to evaluate whether or not the sensations or imbalances in the energy field noted during the pre-treatment assessment have changed.
Grounding
After the Healing Touch session, the practitioner will "ground" you, which brings you back to an alert state.
Evaluation, Feedback, and Treatment Plan Development
At the end of the session, the practitioner will ask you for feedback and descriptions of any sensations or other experiences you had during the session. You will then develop a self-care plan with the practitioner. This plan may include when to come in for another session (if appropriate), as well as self-care techniques and strategies you can use.

The best place to start when looking for a practitioner is with personal recommendations. Reach out to your circle and find out if you know anyone who has had success with a remote healer.

- a healthcare team, like a doctor, naturopath, or therapist
- a yoga or fitness instructor
- friends, family, and loved ones
- members of your spiritual or religious community
- local CAM clinics, like acupuncturists or massage therapists
