Maybe you’ve been to countless practitioners and received multiple diagnoses, but you still feel completely hopeless. You are not alone. I was there, too. This is my story, and I was able to heal myself.I was diagnosed with extreme adrenal fatigue, achlorhydria, Epstein–Barr virus, Leaky Gut, ovarian cysts, PCOS, Lymes disease, PTSD…oh, and I had a few parasites. All of this happened before my twenty-fourth birthday. Along with this diagnosis, I had severe depression, anxiety, constant bloating, eczema, weight gain, acne, and hormonal imbalances. It became so debilitating that steamed vegetables were the only thing my body was positively responding too. Burdened by the thousands of dollars I was spending on health care, I finally took matters into my own hands and began the journey to heal my body. And that I did.Over the course of my journey, I was able to heal. Yes, find complete freedom and excitement again in life. I now deeply feel that it is my calling to support and help other women heal. I felt completely alone in my journey, and I needed a coach and a support system to help guide me though it. Hi there! My name is Michelle Tonkin. I am a Naturopathic Doctor, Certified Nutritional Consultant, Master Herbalist, Master Iridologist and Master Reflexologist. I am a graduate of Trinity College of Natural Health and Acusage Academy. My journey to pursue these degrees started in 2001, as I desired to have answers to my own physical problems. In 1999 I began to experience many health problems such as Candidiasis, Chronic Fatigue, Epstein Barr, Fibromyalgia, Environmental Illness, Lyme Disease, Bacterial, Fungal, and Parasitical Infections. I was a total physical mess! I saw at least 30 different physicians, experienced numerous different medications and treatments, and my condition continued to deteriorate. Although kind and well meaning, the doctors had very few answers or hope for me. By God's grace, perseverance, prayer, and the faithfulness of my family and friends, the answers/solutions starting coming. Hamburg Township is in southeastern Livingston County and is bordered to the south by Washtenaw County. State highway M-36 crosses the township, passing through Lakeland and Hamburg, and leading east 5 miles (8 km) to U.S. Route 23 at Whitmore Lake and west the same distance to Pinckney.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.3 km2), of which 32.2 square miles (83.5 km2) are land and 3.8 square miles (9.8 km2), or 10.49%, is water. There are 32 named lakes, with numerous smaller ponds, marshes, creeks, and streams. The township is part of the Huron River watershed. The river passes through the eastern and southern parts of the township as it flows toward Lake Erie.
East and West Bennett Parks off Merrill Road serve the recreational needs of township children for soccer, football, cheerleading, and softball.
Five miles of Lakelands Trail State Park have been developed through Hamburg Township, with the easternmost terminus of the trail located in the township. The trail is asphalted and parallels the state highway M-36. It is a favorite place of township residents for walking and bicycling. No motorized vehicles are permitted on the Lakelands Trail.
