Jerome is a city in and county seat of Jerome County, Idaho, United States. The population was 10,890 at the 2010 census, up from 7,780 in 2000. The city is the county seat of Jerome County, and is part of the Twin Falls Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is the second largest city in Idaho's Magic Valley region, second only to Twin Falls which is located 10 miles (16 km) southeast. Jerome's economy is largely agrarian, with dairy farming being one of the main revenue sources for the local economy.

Jerome is actually a desert, when the settlers first settled, it was a basalt rich desert with only small bushes for vegetation.

At the 2020 census there were 12,349 people and 4,005 households in the city. The population density was 2,213.08 inhabitants per square mile (854.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 63.9% White, 0.0% African American, 1.2% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 25.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 46.1%.

How did Jerome, ID get its name?

Jerome is the seat of Jerome County and the center of a large Carey Act irrigation project. The town was established in 1907 by the Kuhn Brothers, as part of the North Side Twin Falls Canal Company. It takes its name from Jerome Hill, one of the investors in the project, and a brother-in-law of W.S. Kuhn. The city of Jerome became a municipal corporation on March 24, 1919.
