The first known human inhabitants of the Sahuarita region were the Hohokam people, which may be the ancestors of the modern-day Tohono O'odham nation. This reflects a water amount equivalent to less than one-tenth of one percent (<0.1%) of the 76,000 acre-feet (94,000,000 m3) of water used by all of Sahuarita and Green Valley in 2006.
