Stroud Township is a township in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of 2020, the township had an estimated population of 19,812. 

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 31.5 square miles (81.5 km²), of which 31.2 square miles (80.8 km²) is land and 0.3 square mile (0.7 km²) (0.86%) is water.

According to the Trewartha climate classification system, Stroud Township has a Temperate Continental climate (Dc) with warm summers (b), cold winters (o), and year-round precipitation (Dcbo). DCBO climates are characterized by at least one month having an average mean temperature ≤ 32.0 °F (0.0 °C), four to seven months with an average mean temperature ≥ 50.0 °F (10.0 °C), all months with an average mean temperature < 72.0 °F (22.2 °C) and no significant precipitation difference between seasons. Although most summer days are slightly humid in Stroud Township, episodes of heat and high humidity can occur with heat index values > 100 °F (38 °C). Since 1981, the highest air temperature was 99.6 °F (37.6 °C) on July 22, 2011, and the highest daily average mean dew point was 72.3 °F (22.4 °C), on August 28, 2018. July is the peak month for thunderstorm activity, which correlates with the average warmest month of the year. The average wettest month is September, which correlates with tropical storm remnants during the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. How did Stroud, PA get its name?

Stroud Township was formed on January 22, 1817, and was named for Jacob Stroud, the founder of the Borough of Stroudsburg. It is believed that the first European settlers of the area were the Sly brothers. Along with his two brothers, Peter Sly had traveled south from Esopus, N.Y., in 1750. Peter settled in present-day Stroud Township while his brothers established their homesteads in modern-day Smithfield Township.
