The pioneering microcomputer software company, Digital Research, was located in his house. There are several museums, including the Trotter Museum-Gallery, dedicated to early California paintings from the Monterey Peninsula region and the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. The first people to inhabit Pacific Grove were the Ohlone Rumsen tribe who lived between Big Sur and San Francisco since the 6th century CE. Grinding stones from this tribe still exist in Pacific Grove.
