Poinciana was planned in the 1960s. The original developer was Gulf American Corporation. For example, Poinciana Lakes Plaza, a brand new shopping center located at the northwest corner of Cypress Parkway and Marigold Ave, is currently being built by commercial development company TCII Capital based out of Aventura, Florida.
