The first residents of the Henrietta area were Native Americans. Two villages, East and West Henrietta, arose in the area, both part of the Town of Pittsford. In 1818, a dispute about the recording of deeds prompted residents of the two villages to secede from Pittsford and form the town of Henrietta.
