North Whitehall Township is a township in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population of North Whitehall Township was 15,655 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb of Allentown in the Lehigh Valley, which had a population of 861,899 and was the 68th-most populous metropolitan area in the U.S. as of the 2020 census. North Whitehall Township is located 9.4 miles (15.1 km) northwest of Allentown, 65.2 miles (104.9 km) northwest of Philadelphia, and 99.2 miles (159.6 km) west of New York City.
The township is located in northeastern Lehigh County. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it has a total area of 28.5 square miles (73.9 km2), 28.1 square miles (72.7 km2) of which is land and 0.46 square miles (1.2 km2), or 1.56%, of which is water. It is drained by the Lehigh River, which separates it from Northampton County.
