Wildwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. It is located in the far western portion of the county. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,417. Wildwood is the home of the Al Foster Trail and numerous other trails, parks, and reserves such as Rockwoods Reservation and Babler State Park.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 67.08 square miles (173.74 km2), of which 66.42 square miles (172.03 km2) is land and 0.66 square miles (1.71 km2) is water. Wildwood is bounded to the north by Chesterfield; on the east by Clarkson Valley and Ellisville; to the south by Eureka and Pacific; and on the west by Franklin County.
The 2020 United States census counted 35,417 people, 12,655 households, and 10,730 families in Wildwood. The population density was 531.1 per square mile (205.1/km2). There were 13,043 housing units at an average density of 195.6 per square mile (75.5/km2). The racial makeup was 85.59% (30,314) white, 1.59% (562) black or African-American, 0.15% (52) Native American or Alaska Native, 6.0% (2,124) Asian, 0.02% (7) Pacific Islander, 0.72% (255) from other races, and 5.94% (2,103) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.7% (963) of the population.
Of the 12,655 households, 35.9% had children under the age of 18; 75.3% were married couples living together; 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present. Of all households, 12.8% consisted of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.8 and the average family size was 3.1.
25.6% of the population was under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 17.8% from 25 to 44, 33.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45.2 years. For every 100 females, the population had 95.1 males. For every 100 females ages 18 and older, there were 95.7 males.
