The (historic) town of Pikesville, incorporated in August 1818, in Barren County, Kentucky, was named for Zebulon Pike, also. Pikesville area was inhabited by the Piscataway and Nentego/ Nanticoke tribes. A trail once used by Native American tribes was converted into a patrol road and defensive perimeter for rangers at Fort Garrison (built-in 1695) to protect against attacks from Native Americans. This road would be referred to as Old Court Road. Pikesville, MD was founded/ settled in 1770 and was later named after General Zebulon Pike, an American Explorer during the early 1800s.
