Q: I am in need of Legal Assistance what do I do?
A: You can reach out to Between Friends Court Program for Support : Understanding your legal rights and navigating the court system can be challenging. Our court advocates can explain, in English or Spanish, your rights and options under legislation such as the Illinois Domestic Violence Act. They will explain how to obtain an Order of Protection, assist you with paperwork, and accompany you to court to provide emotional support, advocate on your behalf, and clarify complex legal information and processes. We can also assist teenagers, accompanied by an adult, who are applying for an Order of Protection. Between Friends offers free legal clinics in which domestic violence survivors meet with volunteer family law attorneys who provide legal advice. In these one-on-one consultations, attorneys answer questions about Orders of Protection, divorce proceedings, child support, child custody, and other family law and immigration issues.
