Wellness is Felt, Not Seen.

When I say wellness, I mean overall wellness. Wellness isn’t something that can be seen, it’s felt. The problem I had with this is centered around the word, felt. If you're like me, feelings fall under the category of “I hate them and they get in the way of getting shit done” file.
Wellness is about more than just working out and eating right, it’s about mental health, emotional health, physical health, spirituality, community and acceptance to name a few. I didn't naturally fall into this life of wellness. I was actually FORCED to figure this out for myself before my life and marriage fell apart. I can tell you right now, it was a hard long walk on my journey to get here. I used to be 50 pounds heavier than I am today, I used to value myself based off of my career successes and status in a relationship and am still unpacking a two decade worth of parental trauma today with the help of a therapist, my husband, family, friends and mentors and personal development. Even today, I still have to consciously choose or be gently reminded, to live authentically and re-align with myself to live the life I want to live WELL.
Through my personal journey of self development, lifestyle changes, relationship evolutions, therapy, books, journaling, meditations, conferences, coaching and many other things, I feel like I have a common sense grasp of how not only navigate these things to live a life of overall wellness, but also how to personalize a wellness lifestyle that works for you, your partner and family. I feel confident in sharing my experiences with you because I have felt the struggle, failed at it, succeeded and still continue to come out the other side on my journey today. To quote Tom Cruise from Jerry McGuire, “Help me, HELP YOU!”
I will be the first one to tell you that this journey is not going to be easy. You have to make a conscious effort every single day to choose wellness over surviving. If you are here reading this, than I already know you are ready to make a change. But like me, you may or may not have a place to start or even a direction to head towards. I am here for you my friend! Let's do the damn thing already and start living our best life TODAY! No matter where you have been, where you'd like to end up, I'll leave you with this thought. Twisted pine trees are the most beautiful to see in nature or as furniture because they have had to fight and work harder the every other pine tree around it to find the sun.
